Fame Academy announces 2002 intake of students
Fame
Academy, the 大象传媒's new primetime entertainment series, announces
11 of the students who will enter the Academy after the first live
programme on Friday (4 October).
The 12th student will be chosen during Friday's live show when a
number of potential Academy entrants will sing for their place in
Fame Academy - the decision about the 12th student will be made
by the British public via a phone-voting system.
The
students already chosen are:
Ainslie
Henderson, a 23 year old singer-songwriter originally from
Hawick in Scotland.
Ashley
House, a 28 year old economics teacher from Cheltenham.
Camilla
Beeput, a 21 year old from North London who was due to start
studies at Ealing Drama Studios this October.
Chris
Manning, a 23 year old from Poole in Dorset who works in
IT.
Katie
Lewis, an 18 year old student from Bristol.
Lemar
Obika, a 24 year old account
manager at a leading high street bank from North London.
Malachi
Cush, a 22 year old gas fitter from County Tyrone in Northern
Ireland.
Marli
Buck, a 27 year old nursing assistant originally from Lancashire
but living in London.
Naomi
Roper, a 19 year old student originally from the Scottish
Borders but now living in London.
Nigel
Wilson, a 31 year old vehicle sales manager from Scunthorpe.
Pippa
Fulton, a 20 year old stage school student from Hull.
These
eleven (plus their mystery friend) will be put through the gruelling
challenges of Fame Academy over the coming months - four hour vocal
coaching sessions with Carrie Grant; intensive song-writing tutorials
with Pam Sheyne and muscle-bursting dance and exercise classes with
Kevin Adams.
If
they step out of line, they risk a severe reprimand from head teacher
Richard Park.
The
only respite may come in the form of a calming talk with personal
tutor and all-round good listener, Jeremy Milnes.
Each
week, the teachers will grade the students - one will receive an
A-grade making them top of the class.
However
the three who, in the opinions of the teachers, have not made the
grade will be put on probation for the week.
On
Friday, these three students will have to "sing for survival"
in the tense live showdown before one of them is dramatically expelled.
First,
the public will vote to save one of the three then it is up to the
rest of the students to choose between the remaining two in a nail-biting
final vote.
Eventually,
one student will win the prize
of a lifetime - one year living as a superstar with all the
trappings of serious fame!
The
students were chosen from over 12,000 hopefuls who either sent in
audition tapes to the 大象传媒 or attended one of several auditions all
over the UK in July and August.
Commissioned
by Jane Lush, the 大象传媒's Controller of Entertainment Commissioning,
Fame Academy is an Initial Production (part of Endemol UK) and Richard
Hopkins is the Executive Producer.
