Be a guest of Big Day and toast the happy couples聟
Imagine
doves gently coo-ing, rose petals fluttering in the breeze, as the
dulcet tones of Jane Birkin whisper je t'aime. It's all so beautiful.
Yes,
finally it's arrived - The Big Day.
It's
the joyous celebration of two love-birds as they tie the matrimonial
knot and the day that's had everyone running ragged with months
of prep.
Mother
of the bride debates the size of her hat (and the cake!), and the
best man's checking out his speech (and the bridesmaid tottie!).
The
groom ponders whether to go commando in his kilt, the bride has
last minute doubts, there's concerns over the inevitable family
barnies, and daddy frets about the cost of it all.
Just
your usual, typical wedding day?
Er,
no. Screech that needle on the vinyl of the wedding hymn to a very
sharp halt!
Big
Day, which transmits on Thursday 31 October at 8.30pm
on 大象传媒 TWO Scotland, isn't quite the regular, traditional
gig.
Big
Day follows seven couples with one common purpose. They're all getting
hitched, but they each have seven very different slants, perspectives
and ceremonies for their own, individual big day.
Kerry
and Keith from Peterhead are subjected to a traditional pre-wedding
blackening. Sarah and Max from Penicuik have the momentous task
of renovating a Gothic chapel in time for their wedding.
Maggie
and Toby are Pagans from the North West of Scotland who have a handfasting
ceremony at the Clava Cairns near Inverness.
Janet
and Pat from Clydebank opt to run away to Gretna Green, whilst Jackie
and Kenny's love is split by football - Kenny's king of Hearts and
Jackie's a Hibs fanatic.
Angie
and Max from Edinburgh are both heavily tattooed, pierced, share
a rock music passion and prove that appearances can be deceptive.
Steve
and Gordon are a same sex couple from Glasgow having a Humanist
Affirmation, who met dancing naked on a bar in Tenerife.
See
their trials and tribulations, especially when mothers and daughters
differ over dresses. Witness their stag nights, hen parties and
various customs.
Will
they all go through with it? Will everything run to plan, and will
anyone be left at the altar?
There's
only one way to find out聟
