Richard Hopkins named Creative Head, Format Entertainment

Richard Hopkins has been named as Creative Head - Format Entertainment, the third of the four new creative in-house posts announced by Wayne Garvie last November.

Fresh from the success of executive producing Fame Academy, Richard will join the 大象传媒 from Endemol at the end of March.

As Creative Head, Richard will have responsibility for ensuring 大象传媒 Entertainment leads the way with the next generation of innovative entertainment formats.

He will take overall responsibility for development in this area - by managing the Format Factory and working closely with Martin Scott, Editor Light Entertainment and Phil Parsons, Editor Manchester Entertainment and their programme teams.

He is also charged with attracting, nurturing and developing programme making talent.

Currently executive producer of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, Richard's career highlights range from producing the daytime output at Kiss 100 to executive producing the award-nominated series Fear Factor for Initial.

Prior to joining Endemol in 2000, Richard was the Executive Producer for the Big Breakfast and series produced the 11 O'Clock show for Talkback.

In the summer of 2000 Richard was the live series producer for Big Brother 1.

Richard Hopkins said: "I'm delighted to be joining the in-house team and am looking forward to leading the challenge to find new programmes that compliment the existing light entertainment favourites."

Wayne Garvie, Head of Entertainment Group, added: "Richard is one of the true stars of the entertainment world. He makes ideas happen and turns them into winning programmes. He'll be a real asset to 大象传媒 Entertainment."
