EastEnders stars Go The Extra Mile for
Sport Relief
Sport Relief Saturday on 10 July is fast approaching
and EastEnders stars have signed up to lend their support to this year's
Go The Extra Mile campaign.
听
Tomorrow's episode of EastEnders (Thursday 8
July, 7.30pm, 大象传媒 ONE) will see Mickey (Joe Swash) sign
up to do the Fitness First Sport Relief Mile to raise money for Sport
Relief '04.
听
Mickey is always on the look-out for a scam and a chance
to make some easy money but this time he is determined to do something
for others and raise as much money as possible.
听
He calls upon his Albert Square friends to sponsor
him which they are happy to do.
听
But head of the Slater family, Mo Harris (Laila Morse),
tries to persuade Mickey to pocket all the sponsorship money for himself.
听
Fortunately, Mickey does the right thing and gives
the money to Sport Relief which will be used to tackle poverty and disadvantage,
both in the UK and internationally.
听
Joe Swash, who plays Mickey, said: 聯Mickey is always
trying to make money through some scam or another.
听
"But this time he has realised that there are people
in this country and around the world who are much worse off than he
is and he is determined to do his bit to help raise money for Sport
Relief and help improve the lives of others.
听
"If Mickey can do it so can everyone, so register
for your nearest Mile event, get sponsored and turn up on the day to
change the world by miles."
听
In addition, there are 14 Mile events happening around
the country on 10 July and many of the EastEnders cast will be donning
their red socks and taking part in the Ipswich Mile in Chantry Park.
听
The names of the stars taking part include: Rudolph
Walker (Patrick Trueman), Angela Wynter (Yolande Duke), Brooke
Kinsella (Kelly), Joe Swash (Mickey) and Mohammed George
(Gus).
听
They will also be asking other cast members to sign
their race numbers and sponsor them for the Mile.
听
And Nigel Harman who plays Dennis Rickman will
be pulling on his tracksuit to captain a star-studded 大象传媒 team in Superstars:
Battle of the Channels in which all four terrestrial channels will go
head to head to see which is the fittest and fastest channel.
听
To find out who wins, tune in on Saturday 10 July at
7.00pm on 大象传媒 ONE.
