Red Nose Day - Big Hair and Beyond... just do something

Comic Relief on radio

´óÏó´«Ã½ Network Radio is joining in the fun this Red Nose Day.

Ìý

Each network will be doing its bit to persuade the public to donate money and raise awareness for Comic Relief.

Ìý

Here are some of the highlights:

Ìý

Radio 1: The Chris Moyles Red Nose Rally, from 4–11 March

Ìý

Chris Moyles and his team embark on a week-long road rally from John O'Groats to Lands End to raise money for Comic Relief.

Ìý

They will be broadcasting every day from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Local Radio studios and they've pledged to do anything for money.

Ìý

There will also be the chance to win some fantastic prizes and raise loads of cash for Red Nose Day at the same time.

Ìý

The details are secret but you can be sure if Chris is involved it'll be big!

Ìý

Radio 2

Ìý

Richard Curtis launches Radio 2's coverage of Comic Relief on Steve Wright in the Afternoon, the nation's biggest afternoon show.

Ìý

Richard will be highlighting how you can get involved in this year's Big Hair and Beyond campaign, laying a veritable smorgasbord of Comic Relief coverage on Radio 2, and previewing events on the big day itself.

Ìý

Radio 4: Woman's Hour, Wednesday 9 March, 10.00am

Ìý

Woman's Hour visits Ghana for Comic Relief.

Ìý

Presenter Jenni Murray finds out how projects are affecting the lives of women there.

Ìý

She will explore what happens to elderly women in the north who are accused of being witches and driven out of their villages.

Ìý

And she will talk to young women who head to the capital to avoid poverty, only to be trapped as head-porters (kayayei) or prostitutes.

Ìý

If women are taught to learn new trades, Woman's Hour asks, what happens to the men?

Ìý

Jenni Murray also gets out and about in Accra to listen to the music, visit the markets and learn about the everyday lives of women in Ghana.

Ìý

´óÏó´«Ã½ Local & National Radio Stations
