´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE Autumn 2005 & Winter 2006 press pack

Digital Innovation

Since its launch, ´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE has exploited the capabilities of the digital world to extend its brand beyond television broadcast, using red button interactive television, the internet and mobile platforms.

Ìý

This is in order to give viewers more control over how they watch the channel's output and increased choice over what they watch – such as Little Britain, Extras, the Trinidad Carnival, Christmas Visions and Glastonbury.

Ìý

"We want our viewers to feel that ´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE is a genuinely innovative multi-platform brand that goes beyond the traditional linear broadcast to reach out to audiences," says Stuart Murphy.

Ìý

New trial applications - such as the Best of Three multi-screen and the broadband premiere of new comedies - further enhance ´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE's growing reputation as an innovative and mature digital brand, as the channel seeks to exploit the emerging cross-platform opportunities that new technologies offer.

Ìý

On Sunday 1 May, ´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE launched the Best of Three multi-screen application, a pioneering six-month trial which offers viewers more control and greater access to the wide range of programmes on the channel.

Ìý

From 9.00pm on Sunday nights, digital satellite viewers have the opportunity to become their own schedulers when they are prompted to press the red button and are offered the choice of three of their favourite ´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE programmes, in addition to the channel's live transmission.

Ìý

On a sample Sunday evening, content available could range from Nighty Night and Bodies to Little Angels.

Ìý

´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE was the first UK channel to premiere its programmes on broadband when it streamed the new series of hit comedy The Mighty Boosh from 19 July – a week ahead of its transmission on 26 July.

Ìý

It is the first of a number of original and award-winning comedies that will be premiered via broadband in the coming months.

Ìý

Viewers can watch streamed programmes when they want on bbc.co.uk/bbcthree, and catch up if they've missed an episode.

Ìý

All episodes will be available to view for up to seven days after the final programme of the series transmits on ´óÏó´«Ã½ THREE.
