Noreen Kershaw plays Phyllis, the unflappable desk Sergeant

Phyllis is on the front line when it comes to slinging suspects in the cells. She
is a no nonsense lady who, if she lived in 2006, would probably be described as a
ballbreaker. But in these times of overt sexism and bum pinching, Phyllis can
give as good as she gets and demands the respect of her male colleagues
Ìý
Noreen has had a varied career in film, TV and theatre. Audiences will recognise
her from Peak Practice but she has also appeared in shows as varied as Watching,
Young Indy, Alan Bleasdale's Jake's Progress, Coronation Street and Albion Market.

Tony Marshall plays Nelson, the barman who is all ears
Ìý
Nelson is the ‘Jamaican' bartender at the CID's local but only Sam knows his
secret – he is as Mancunian as they come. Nelson is the man people go to for a
drink and a chat. He offers his words of wisdom to an increasingly troubled Sam
and acts as his sound board for his theories as to how and why he has ended up in
this alien world.

Tony is best known for playing Diesel in ´óÏó´«Ã½ drama The Preston Front but has
appeared in many well known TV shows such as Judge John Deed, Wing and a Prayer,
The Queen's Nose and Only Fools and Horses.

Joanne Froggatt plays Sam's Mum. Sam revisits his family home and is determined
to help his mother out of a financial situation.
