大象传媒 Radio Ulster has added nearly 75,000 listeners in the last year, according to figures released today by Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd.).

Radio Ulster, Northern Ireland's most listened to radio station, now reaches 541,000 listeners, enjoying a massive weekly reach of 39.7 per cent of the population and a share of 27.7% of all radio listeners in Northern Ireland.

This is an increase of 74,000 on the 467,000 listeners tuning in to the station at the same time last year.

These are the highest-ever listening figures for Radio Ulster during this period.

Of Radio Ulster's daytime schedule, Good Morning Ulster saw an increase of 16,000 listeners compared to the same time last year; the Sony Gold-winning The Stephen Nolan Show enjoyed a jump of 47,000 listeners on the same time last year, now reaching around 148,000; and Gerry Anderson saw his listeners increase by 51,000, now reaching 126,000 listeners.

Meanwhile, 43,000 more listeners are tuning into Talkback with David Dunseith since the same time last year, with the programme now reaching 115,000 listeners.

Radio Ulster's weekend schedule also experienced a sizable increase in listeners compared to the same period in 2005.

Your Place and Mine enjoyed an increase of 16,000 listeners, now reaching 79,000; Gardeners' Corner with Cherrie McIlwaine saw a 33,000 rise in listeners to 118,000; On Your Behalf with Linda McAuley now sits at 113,000 listeners, an increase of 40,000; the listenership of The Saturday Magazine with John Toal rose 33,000 to 89,000; and the station's Saturday Morning comedy slot, which featured The Blame Game and Folks on the Hill, increased by 29,000 listeners to 86,000.

On Sundays, meanwhile, Sunday Sequence presented by William Crawley is now listened to by 94,000 listeners, an increase of 27,000 listeners.

Controller 大象传媒 NI Anna Carragher says: "We are delighted with this latest set of Rajar listening figures.

"We've always had an extremely loyal and involved audience, but for us this increase on the same time last year is very special. But we are not about to rest on our laurels.

"While we are extremely proud to be the most listened to station in Northern Ireland, audiences will continue to have more and more choice.

"大象传媒 Radio Ulster will continue to be committed to putting our listeners at the heart of all our programmes and to keep on refreshing our schedule, bringing on new talent and finding more and more new ways for our listeners to interact with us and each other."
