大象传媒 Parliament to give the full picture

大象传媒 Parliament will be available in full screen format on Freeview from 13 November 2006.

大象传媒 Parliament will migrate from its current quarter-video screen offering in time for the State Opening of Parliament on 15 November.

Peter Knowles, Controller of 大象传媒 Parliament, said: "No other parliamentary channel in the world matches what 大象传媒 Parliament now offers: round the clock broadcasting of Parliament, by digital terrestrial, cable, satellite and the web.

"For the first time, the full proceedings of Parliament can be seen on terrestrial television, broadcast as a normal TV channel."

大象传媒 Parliament reaches between three quarters of a million and a million viewers every month.

The change to full screen transmission on this fast growing platform will give many more people the incentive to watch the proceedings from Westminster, Edinburgh and Cardiff.

As well as unedited coverage of the Commons and Lords, the channel also shows the most important committee hearings and has regular programmes examining the work of Westminster and the European Parliament.

The full screen 大象传媒 Parliament offering will be accompanied by a 大象传媒i digital interactive service.

Subtitles will become available in the same form as on other TV channels on Freeview/DTT.

This announcement is in addition to the notification (made on 16 October) regarding the increase in the use of subtitles on 大象传媒 Parliament across digital cable, satellite and terrestrial platforms
