The UK entry
Ìý
Scooch were formed in 1998 and signed to EMI Records.
Ìý
Russ Spencer, Natalie Powers, Caroline Barnes and David Ducasse soon became one of the most popular teen pop acts of the late Nineties and early Naughties.
Ìý
They scored four top 20 hits including the massive top five single, More Than I Needed To Know.
Ìý
Their success wasn't just limited to the UK, either, with number ones in various countries worldwide.
Ìý
Since they split six year's ago Russ has been TV presenting, currently working on The Great Big British Quiz on Five. He also featured in the hit Channel 4 and E4 show Boys Will Be Girls ... trying to pass himself off as a woman!
Ìý
Natalie, now a full time mum to her six-year-old son Michael, has been working on her own solo projects. She has scored two dance hits with Unchained Melody and Music To My Heart, toured extensively as a solo artist, as well as working as a session singer and singing teacher.
Ìý
David went back into education gaining a HND in Musical Theatre and is currently completing his degree in Performance. David has also set up his own very successful stage school – Performers – which has been running for six years now.
Ìý
Caroline moved from pop music to musical theatre. She joined The Producers as part of the original cast alongside Lee Evans and Nathan Lane and currently stars alongside Peter Kay.
Ìý
Caroline, Russ, David, and Natalie returned to the spotlight this year when they reformed especially for ´óÏó´«Ã½ One's Making Your Mind Up – the UK's Eurovision entry selection programme. With a patriotic flourish, they performed their poptastic song for around seven million UK viewers.
Ìý
Enjoying their bright performance and recognising the sheer Euro-appeal of the song, the country voted for Scooch to represent Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest. The band and their winning song were the hottest property in pop and they were instantly snapped up by Warner Bros Records.
Ìý
The band are now enjoying the build-up to Eurovision and are looking forward to the release of the single on 7 May 2007.
Ìý
David says: "This whole experience is amazing. Winning the British vote was fantastic, and now we are releasing the single throughout Europe and preparing to go to Finland so we are just having a great, and very busy, time.
Ìý
"Flying The Flag definitely ticks all the boxes as far as a Eurovision song is concerned – it has a catchy tune, memorable lyrics, there is something for adults and children and the performance has a brilliant dance routine. We will definitely be flying the flag high for Britain in Finland."
