Three Wise Men announced for Liverpool Nativity
|
Three new names have been added to the line up for Liverpool Nativity,
the 大象传媒's contemporary retelling of the Christmas story.
听
Louis Emerick, David Yip and Joe McGann are set to play the three Magi
in the Christmas production which will take place live on the streets of
Liverpool.
听
All three are Liverpool actors, well known for their various roles.
听
Joe
McGann, one of the four famous McGann brothers, is best known for his
role as Charlie Burrows in the TV comedy series The Upper Hand
throughout the early Nineties.
听
Joining Joe is David Yip, famous for his portrayal of Johnny Ho in the
1981 大象传媒 drama The Chinese Detective. David also played Michael Cho矛 in
the Liverpool-based soap opera Brookside between 1989 and 1990.
听
Louis Emerick is another Brookside favourite, best loved for playing
Mick Johnson in the long-running soap.
听
Louis is excited about his
involvement in Liverpool Nativity: "I am delighted to be back where I
belong, performing in my home city. Liverpool Nativity is a really
innovative concept, everything from the script to the staging has been
so carefully thought out.
听
"Not only is it a great way to see in Christmas but what a fantastic way
to welcome in Liverpool's Capital of Culture year."
听
Audiences will be treated to many famous songs from Liverpool's vast pop
legacy and Louis, Joe and David are set to perform The Beatles' Lady
Madonna live at the event.
听
The hour-long event will take place on 16 December 2007 on William Brown
Street in the city centre.
听
This mammoth production involves over 300
cast and 150 technical crew and will, as Louis says, be part of the lead
up to Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture 2008.
听
Liverpool Nativity has been developed by the team behind Manchester
Passion and is supported by Liverpool Culture Company.
听
Written by
Liverpudlian Mark Davies Markham, it is executive produced by Sue Judd.
听
The Musical Director is Philip Sheppard, Professor of Cello at the Royal
Academy of Music, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will be
performing on the night.
听
Liverpool Nativity will be broadcast live on 大象传媒 Three on Sunday 16 December at 8pm.
