New roles at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees: John Foster at Breakfast and 'Voice of the Boro' Ali Brownlee every evening

´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees has announced changes to its daytime line-up with John Foster taking over the breakfast programme from 7.00 to 10.00am and Ali Brownlee launching an all-new evening talk show for local sport fans from 28 July 2008.

Ìý

John said: "It's a dream job to be talking to the people of Teesside as they start their day. The show will tell you everything you need to know – but most importantly we'll make sure you leave the house with a smile on your face.

Ìý

"Although I've loved doing the afternoons, I've missed doing a breakfast show, there's just nothing like the buzz of knowing you're part of so many people's lives.

Ìý

"And it's an honour to take over from Matty at a time when ´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees is really hitting its stride."

Ìý

Alastair Brownlee will entertain ´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees's listeners at the opposite end of the day with a daily all-talk sports show between 6.00 and 8.00pm, in addition to his much-anticipated return to the commentary box.

Ìý

Ali said: "There's just so much passion for sport round here, we knew we had to make space for it on the airwaves.

Ìý

"Obviously the Boro is a massive draw, but we're going to reflect the dedication of Pools and Quakers fans too and showcase all the other sporting talent that the Tees area boasts.

Ìý

"We're going to tap into all the humour and excitement of sport, but without the need to give airtime to other regional teams that people in our part of the North East don't care about."

Ìý

Matthew Davies, who will be taking over the afternoon show (1.00 to 4.00pm) from John Foster, said: "After two fantastic years presenting the Breakfast programme I'm really looking forward to a lie-in. and there's no-one I'd rather entrust the show to than John.

Ìý

"´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees's motto is 'proud of where we live' and that really sums John up. He really loves it round here and he's passionate about making great radio."

Ìý

´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees Editor Matthew Barraclough said: "We're so lucky to have John and Ali on the team. We're constantly looking for ways to improve our service for the local audience and to be a champion for Teesside and the surrounding area.

Ìý

"One thing we know is that radio listeners on Teesside want something that's dedicated to them and which reflects life as it's being lived right here, right now. You can't do that if you're based 40 miles away, or worse, if your shows come from a studio in London.

Ìý

"In John and Ali we have two guys who are talented enough to work anywhere in the UK, but who choose to work here because they love it. And that's what ´óÏó´«Ã½ local radio should be about."
