The boys are back in town, but Gary dances out of Strictly Come Dancing
|
It was a battle of the boys on the dance floor tonight on µþµþ°äÌý°¿²Ô±ð as chef Gary Rhodes was voted off Strictly Come Dancing – the third celebrity to leave the competition.
Ìý
After performing a jive, the combination of the viewer votes and judges' scores left Gary Rhodes and his partner Karen Hardy in the bottom two with Mark Foster and Hayley Holt.
Ìý
Both couples had to perform a second time for the judges' deciding vote.
Ìý
Of Gary and Karen's dance the judges said –
Ìý
Arlene Phillips: "Enthusiasm – yes! You need to stop counting in your head, feel the rhythm and dance. Your footwork was kind of as flat as a pancake."
Score: 4.
Ìý
Bruno Tonioli: "I say this with love – your jive had more holes than the surface of the moon. You were counting but the problem with it is you were going off and on and off and on. Stop counting and listen to the music, let the music go through you. This would be better for you because counting doesn't work."
Score: 5.
Ìý
Craig
Revel Horwood: "I was praying for you throughout the entire routine, just so you know, but there are a few problems that one must overcome, one being a hunched back – that doesn't help; the lurching neck is not helping you. There are major timing issues and stompy flat footedness that make it laboured. But you can rest knowing it wasn't a complete dance disaster."
Score: 3.
Ìý
Len
Goodman: "Everybody looks at things in a different light. I thought your foot work was very very good. I loved the start, a bit like going to a restaurant, a lovely starter! You had lovely chasses going on – it was a proper basic jive. Unfortunately, as you went through, it you lost the timing a couple of times, you get excited, you want to do good. You had terrible comments a couple of weeks ago and you've got all that pressure. I thought you did a very good job considering all the stress you've been under."
Score: 6.
Ìý
The judges gave them a total of 18 out of 40 for their performance.
Ìý
After the dance-off, Mark and Hayley were saved by Craig, Arlene and Bruno, who all voted for them to stay in the competition, leaving head judge Len to comment on the couples rather than vote.
Ìý
Len said: "Gary, I thought it was a very brave attempt. Well done to you."
Ìý
After his and Karen's elimination, Gary said: "I would go through it all again – I want that ballroom dance! Maybe we'll have that privately."
Ìý
On Saturday the girls performed a group swing dance to Choo Choo Ch-boogie ahead of their second solo performances next week and it was a mixed result according to the judges.
Ìý
When asked who they'll be looking out for next week, they said –
Ìý
Arlene: "Len always says I look for the bad in everyone and I had my eyes peeled on Jessie but the girl didn't put a foot wrong and not only that but she smiled all the way through."
Ìý
Bruno: "Well, I tell you, all the girls took to swing like ducks to water! Christine stood out for me."
Ìý
Craig: "I'm going to single out Jodie, only because everyone's saying tall people can't do it, and it was a little bit laboured."
Ìý
Len: "May I first say that I thought that was possibly the best group dance that I've seen on any of the Strictlys. The thing that stood out for me was James Jordan's haircut – well done, what a handsome man!"
Ìý
The Sunday results show saw a performance from Andrea Boccelli.
Ìý
Next week the girls will compete to stay in the competition whilst the boys perform a group number.
