Arts and Culture News Coverage – ´óÏó´«Ã½ News
To reinforce the reporting of arts at the heart of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ News website and to offer a complete service for arts lovers, ´óÏó´«Ã½ News has launched an Arts And Culture News Index. This new multimedia area draws together a wealth of arts and culture coverage across all ´óÏó´«Ã½ News outlets and links and shares content with programmes such as Front Row and The Culture Show. The conclusion in 2009 of Liverpool’s year as Capital of Culture, Ed and Nancy Kienholz’s exhibition at the National Gallery and Helen Mirren performing at the National Theatre will be covered by ´óÏó´«Ã½ News’s Arts And Culture team on television and radio, and with even more content online.
Arena – ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two
Arena, the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s influential arts strand, introduced a new documentary style in 1979 with My Way and The Private Life Of The Ford Cortina in 1982. It produced the acclaimed No Direction Home – Bob Dylan directed by Martin Scorsese and The Agony And The Ecstasy of Phil Spector. Forthcoming subjects include T.S. Eliot as part of the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Poetry season.

In August The Culture Show will once again cover the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe with The Edinburgh Festival Show installed in its now traditional home at the Pleasance Courtyard. There is also comprehensive Edinburgh Festival coverage on Radio 3, Radio 4, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Scotland and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland.
Front Row – Radio 4
Mark Lawson, John Wilson and Kirsty Lang present a live magazine programme every weekday evening throughout the year covering the arts, literature, film, media and music. The programme reaches more than 2.2 million listeners a week. Last year, Front Row announced the winner of the Art Fund Prize for Museum Of The Year, after reporting from the shortlisted museums in Bristol, Woking, the Shetland Islands and London. The programme reported from Liverpool, in its year as European Capital Of Culture, while guests included Damien Hirst, John le Carré, Akram Khan, Daniel Barenboim, 1999 Turner prize winner Steve McQueen and Rose Tremain, whose Orange Prize for fiction was announced live on the programme.
Imagine – ´óÏó´«Ã½ One
´óÏó´«Ã½ One’s award-winning arts strand, presented by Alan Yentob, returns in Spring 2009. The new series will include a film about Sadler’s Wells’ Company Of Elders – a group who discovered dance and performance later in life. There will also be a film with unprecedented access over two years to British artist David Hockney. Imagine will also be covering the Manchester International Festival with a film about Rufus Wainwright.

In 2009 The Culture Show will cover the Manchester International Festival, documenting world premiere performances and specially commissioned projects, including architect Zaha Hadid's creation of a temporary space in which to hear the solo works of J.S. Bach.

Broadcaster Mark Lawson conducts hour-long, one-to-one interviews with respected cultural figures and personalities about their life and career.
