Scott Mills launches the search for a new Scott Mills!

Radio 1's Scott Mills

´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills is taking a very special show to this year's Edinburgh Festival – Scott Mills The Musical – and he needs to find someone to play him!

The idea, which started out as an on-air joke in the popular drivetime presenter's weekday 4.00-7.00pm show, got so much interest from listeners that producing a stage musical has become a (scary) reality for Scott and his team.

Without any experience of producing a musical between them – they don't know their Les Miserables from their Chicago – the challenge is set. Who knows whether there'll be the sound of music, or whether the audience will ask for more? Only time will tell!

Scott's listeners have been sending in story ideas, plotlines and songs to help bring the show to life but it doesn't stop there. The team have launched "Search for a Scott" as they try to find someone to tread the boards in Edinburgh and play Scott in the musical. Listeners only have until Friday 3 July to send in their video entries.

Scott says: "This is the biggest thing the team and I have tried to do... it's massive! We're excited but terrified at the same time! Finding someone to play me is going to be very surreal."

For details of how to get involved and apply for the part go to bbc.co.uk/radio1.

Time is ticking until the curtain goes up – will it be all razzle dazzle or will it be over like greased lightning?

Scott Mills The Musical, 11, 12 and 13 August, Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh
