The website bbc.co.uk/scotlandshistory will be re-launched in the run-up to the series' transmission. Video material from the new series will be available, alongside archive from the past 40 years of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland history programming.
A popular element from the first phase will return - an online debate following each episode's transmission, allowing audiences to explore, compare and discuss historical perspectives based on clips from the new series and elsewhere.
The site will also be home to THiRTY-NiNE 45, a "micro-history" project developed by ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland Learning. It focuses on an incident on 6 August 1942 when the east coast of Scotland was attacked by three German planes. Through original documentation and witness video testament, this project aims to give young people an accessible and intimate snapshot of a wide-ranging and complex war.
Events
Reaching over 100,000 people during the 12-month period, the series of events began with the launch back in November 2008 at Stirling Castle, where the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra premièred the music and the series together before an invited audience, and followed this with smaller concerts in historic venues, from Culloden to Abbotsford in the Borders.
Throughout the summer of 2009, Stirling Castle, the Glasgow River Festival and the Braemar Gathering were the venues for family events with historic themes, including Reporting On Scotland From The Past, where children and adults were invited to sit on the newsreader's "throne" to report on a story from Scotland's past.
Visitors were also able to take part in a special historical radio drama with clips from each session placed on the website after the event.
The final event will be a special concert at Edinburgh's Usher Hall on 29 November, featuring excerpts from the music from the series performed by the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra, alongside music from an array of Scottish talent including Eddi Reader, McIntosh Ross and God Help The Girl.
