  • Richard Bacon launches new Saturday show

Digital radio station ´óÏó´«Ã½ 6 Music today announces that Lauren Laverne is to present a new weekday show on the network.

Lauren will move from her Saturday afternoon show to front a daily live programme between 10.00am and 1.00pm, starting on Monday 30 November.

Speaking about her new show, Lauren says: "I'm thrilled beyond belief to have been asked to become part of the daytime team on 6 Music.

"It's the best station on air. I can't wait to get started!"

George Lamb and his co-host Marc Hughes will take over the Weekend Breakfast show on 6 Music, Saturday and Sunday, 7.00-10.00am, from 5 December.

George says: "We've had an amazing time producing world class, genre-defining, groundbreaking, seminal, award-winning, mind-blowing radio, most weekdays, for the last two years, the fact that we've clashed with This Morning has always left a bitter sweet taste.

"The good news is, This Morning isn't on at the weekends and so, as of December, we're going to be driving you all mad, Saturday and Sunday mornings, 7-10."

Richard Bacon is a new addition to the station and will front a weekend show from Saturday 5 December from 3.00 to 5.00pm.

Richard, who currently presents on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live from Monday-Thursday from 11.30pm to 1.00am, will also be a part of 5 Live's recently-announced new schedule, with his Monday to Thursday, 2.00 to 4.00pm, show starting on Monday 11 January 2010.

On coming to 6 Music, Richard says: "6 Music is one of the few genuinely exciting music stations around.

"I really respect the people here and can't wait to start working with them. It's going to be fun."

Bob Shennan, Controller, Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: "Lauren is an outstanding talent and we're delighted she is going to be a pivotal voice on the network.

"George has done a brilliant job in daytime and I'm pleased he's agreed to transfer his amazing energy to weekends.

"And with Richard joining Saturday afternoons, it's a significant and exciting time in the development of 6."
