Dancing On Wheels: Paul Jacob

Heather Small and Paul Jacob

Age: 25
From: Oxford
Occupation: design engineer
Celebrity Dance Partner: Heather Small

Five years ago Paul Jacob was an apprentice plumber. In 2005 he came off his motorbike and broke his back, leaving him with a T5 spinal injury and no sensation below the waist. Paul now works for the same plumbing company as a full time design engineer.

Paul loves music and festivals and went to Glastonbury again last summer. He thinks he's got pretty good rhythm when it comes to dancing.

Since his accident Paul has embraced several wheelchair-orientated activities such as skiing, basketball and football. Most recently he went sailing in France for charity and has taken up cycling and weight-lifting. But he was keen to do a sport that he can do with an able-bodied person.

Paul says: "Heather and I really want to look like we're actually dancing, which is very hard!"

Paul is dancing with M People singer Heather Small. Heather appeared in the sixth series of Strictly Come Dancing with then newcomer Brian Fortuna.
