Fatherhood in an historical and contemporary context is celebrated in a season of programmes encompassing documentary, science, drama, and entertainment.
Through moving testimony from dads of all ages, A Century Of Fatherhood charts the revolution in fatherhood in Britain and provides a unique insight into 100 years of dramatic change.
Fathers in literature are often missing, marginalised or regarded as an embarrassment. In ¶Ù¾±²õ²¹±è±è±ð²¹°ù¾±²Ô²µÌý¶Ù²¹»å, novelist Andrew Martin takes a light-hearted journey through three centuries of literary fatherhood from Charles Dickens and Jane Austen to Nick Hornby and Tony Parsons.
Child psychologist Laverne Antrobus investigates the psychology of families in HD production The Biology Of Dads, revealing the extraordinary biological changes that occur in fathers and helping to explain why they play such a vital role in raising a family.
John Lennon’s role as a father, and the impact of the brief and unhappy reappearance of his own absent father into his life, is the focal point of single drama, Lennon Naked, in which Christopher Eccleston portrays the star during the pivotal years of 1967-71 when he was transformed from Beatle John to enduring and enigmatic icon.
As well as other original content, Fatherhood Season also takes a look back through the comedy archive as Men About The House charts the evolution of the role of the British father as seen through the lens of situation comedies from the Fifties to the modern day.

Award-winning film-maker Penny Woolcock (Mischief Night, The Death Of Klinghoffer) returns to documentary making after ten years with a new film exploring the lives of Britain’s homeless.
Many people walk past the homeless and wonder who they are and how they got to be there. Shot over a period of eight months, On The Streets tells the often surprising stories of some of the people living on our city streets.
Homeless people featured range from Paul, who has two degrees in pure mathematics, to Jean, who can't read or write, the saintly Friend and Grizzly with his mysterious past in Poland. The film shows us where they eat, sleep, find a toilet and pass the time without jobs or homes.
