Radio Scotland's leading ladies pull the big stories

Sporting an impressive line up of female presenters, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Scotland has the spotlight on leading ladies both at home and further afield over the next fortnight.

A brand new four part series, Women On Top, starts on Thursday 3 June, when Clare English interviews Britain's first female porn director Anna Span, who reveals that her inspiration for breaking into the porn industry was to empower women. The award-winning film-maker also tells Claire about her unsuccessful bid to become an MP in the last election and about how she plans to continue with politics.

This week (24-29 May), over 20 gutsy female presenters will be asking awkward questions, probing personal lives and getting to grips with the grit – all part of a normal week's work at Radio Scotland.

Award-winning broadcaster Edi Stark has her regular Stark Talk on Wednesday with Judith Doherty, the producer and chief executive of the multi-award-winning Grid Iron Theatre, the company which has taken theatre to venues from playparks to dark alleys.

In Thursday's Movie Cafe, Janice Forsyth will be reviewing Carrie Bradshaw's second take of Sex And The City and talking live to film critic and superfan James Kleinmann. On Saturday she will return to The Janice Forsyth Show to get up close and personal with Denise Welch, famous for playing Natalie Horrocks in Coronation Street, finding out how she has battled through post-natal depression, alcohol and drug addiction.

Kaye Adams will be probing into news and views in Call Kaye every weekday morning, and Karen MacKenzie will be rooting around for answers to everyday queries in MacAulay & Co.

More leading ladies for Radio Scotland take charge of the mic on Saturday when classy comedian Susan Morrison steps up to the challenge of keeping her unruly pupils – Viv Lumsden, Sandy Nelson, Paul Sneddon and Julie Coombe – under control in the second series of the highly successful SWOTS.

Finishing the week's comedy on Saturday is Susan Calman finding out more about one of her Funny Friends, Des Clarke – nice guy or mischief maker?

And to round off the sport, Liz Clark dishes up some Wives With Knives – when she shares some favourite recipes with Janet Nicol, wife of Scottish rugby legend Andy Nicol.
