CBeebies' resident brainbox The Kerwizzitor (aka Jacob Scipio) takes to the stage as The Genie in the CBeebies Christmas Pantomime. Here he talks about the magic of panto, why he loves his genie costume and his best ever Christmas present.
What can CBeebies' viewers expect from this year's panto?
They're going to have a lot of fun, like with all pantos, I reckon they're in for a big laugh. Personally I love pantomimes – they're the best aren't they?
Tell us about your character.
I play The Genie which is a great role because obviously we're doing Aladdin. It's a lot of fun because he's like my CBeebies character The Kerwhizzitor – he's very wise and omnipotent.
It's a really cool role to play especially as I remember the classic Disney Aladdin with Robin Williams as The Genie. I've summoned the spirit of Robin Williams for this role!
Can you describe your outfit?
I love it. I just want to stay in it all the time: I've got pointy shoes, a waistcoat, a belt and bangles and a big genie hat; it's wicked!
What do you like about pantomime?
I just like the fact that you don't have to take it seriously. It's so light-hearted and charming. You're here to do a job but it's so much fun – it's not work really! It's everything bundled into one great package – the sequins, the songs, the dance, the staging. Everyone's involved in it – the whole family – no one's left out. It's got it all!
What is your first pantomime memory?
I was a bit of a latecomer to panto. My first real panto memory is only about three or four years ago at the Hackney Empire. We watched Peter Pan and it was so much fun – just the way you can bring the audience into it – the jeering, booing and hissing. It's so much fun for the performers and even more for the audience!
What are you doing for Christmas this year?
It's going to be family and close friends. Christmas is about family, friends, food and being warm inside. It's my favourite holiday of the year by far!
What is your best ever Christmas present?
It was definitely when the film Toy Story had just came out. My aunty had left two presents under the tree for me and they were the most beautifully wrapped, archetypal presents ever. I sneaked in and scratched open the paper and there was Major Chip Hazzard and Archer leader of the Gormonites from Toy Story and they were just the most perfect presents I've ever had!
Finally, what is your Christmas wish?
I'd quite like an Audi R8 Spyder but I'm going to go for the unselfish one – world peace and love to all!
