Frankenstein's Wedding... Live In Leeds: Victor Frankenstein – Andrew Gower

As the big day approaches, Victor Frankenstein has much more than just his wedding day to worry about. As the seating plans are arranged, Victor toils away in his lab frantically trying to fulfil a secret deal he has made with his first creation.

He is consumed by his terrible act, unable to admit to anyone, least of all his bride, what he has unleashed on the world.

The troubled genius has always been obsessed with pushing the boundaries of science and now he's gone too far. He hoped to benefit humanity and save lives but instead he's created a threat that could destroy everything.

What attracted you to Frankenstein's Wedding... Live in Leeds and specifically the role of Victor?

"The sheer scale and challenge of the project was very attractive and to play a character as renowned as Victor Frankenstein is so exciting."

Is there a particular part in the adaptation that you are most looking forward to?

"The whole conflict between science and religion is something that I really look forward to exploring and I think it can really stand out in the adaptation.

"What I love about the project and the original Mary Shelley novel is, as an audience/reader, we really go on a journey with both the Creature and Victor, which makes their scenes together so powerful."

Andrew Gower was named as the winner of the Spotlight Prize last year. Recently graduated from the Oxford School of Drama, as well as his role as Victor Frankenstein, he will also appear as Dr Mullery in the upcoming ITV drama Monroe.
