Many of the UK's foremost orchestras perform at the Proms with their principal conductors. They include the Hallé with Sir Mark Elder (); London Symphony Orchestra with Valery Gergiev (); City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra with Andris Nelsons (); Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique with Sir John Eliot Gardiner (); London Philharmonic Orchestra with Vladimir Jurowski (); Philharmonia Orchestra with Esa-Pekka Salonen (); Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra with Kirill Karabits (); and the John Wilson Orchestra with its eponymous director ().

The 2011 season also showcases some of the country's leading chamber orchestras and ensembles, including the City of London Sinfonia (); Gabrieli Consort & Players with Paul McCreesh (); Britten Sinfonia (); Northern Sinfonia (); and the London Sinfonietta ( & ).

With choral music a major focus this season, the Proms welcomes acclaimed vocal groups including Stevie Wishart's Sinfonye (); Renaissance specialists The Tallis Scholars (); Synergy Vocals (); Stephen Layton's Polyphony (); and the Holst Singers (). There are also welcome returns for Glyndebourne Festival Opera () and the National Youth Choir of Great Britain ().
