This brand new series sees the Hairy Bikers, Simon King and Dave Myers, explore the social issue of providing meals on wheels in Britain today.
In the wake of the Blitz, war-torn Britain united to deliver hot meals to families whose homes had been destroyed. Sixty years on, the children of that "baby boomers" generation are reaching retirement during a time of recession – so the bikers are determined to reignite the Dunkirk spirit to get meals back on their wheels.
Working to encourage members of the community to engage with their local service, and developing recipes to improve the quality of the meals being offered, the bikers get to grips with a community who are determined to carry on providing daily, hand-delivered hot meals for their elderly population.

Driving his chum's rather clapped-out camper van, which he describes as his Rocinante, celebrated chef Rick Stein embarks on a culinary journey through Spain laced with history, literature and stunning photography.
"I've wanted to make a series in Spain for a long time," Rick explains. "I love Spanish food, I've been going there since I was a young boy – but until quite recently I don't think people really took the food seriously. French and Italian cooking was felt to have more finesse. Thanks to a handful of really dedicated Spanish chefs and a growing enthusiasm for its rugged flavours, that has all begun to change. No one cooks fish with more respect or grills meat better. To me the underlying point of journeying to Spain would be to discover 'duende' in the cooking. By that I mean a sense of soul, of authenticity. The word is normally used for the soul of flamenco but I think it could be equally applied to the art of Spanish cooking because to my mind, in really good food, there is a communication between the cook and diner that amounts to art."

Best-selling author and food writer Sophie Dahl tells the compelling story of Mrs Beeton – one of the most famous food writers in British cooking. Mrs Beeton's Book Of Household Management was once a must-have on the wedding list of every aspirational Victorian bride and it became an instant best-seller when it was first published in 1861. But little is known about Isabella Beeton's fascinating life.
Sophie Dahl On Mrs Beeton mixes social history with cookery and storytelling to celebrate the life of an extraordinarily modern woman.
Immersing herself in the world and times of Mrs Beeton, Sophie traces her journey from modest childhood to wife, fashion journalist, editor and best-selling author, who died aged just 28 of puerpal fever contracted after the birth of her fourth child. And Sophie tries out a few of Mrs Beeton's stalwarts, such as carrot jam, pigeon pie and lobster à la francaise, to see whether they stand the test of time and still appeal to the modern palate.
