MasterChef Ep 14/15

High Definition programme
Tuesday 26 April
9.00-10.00pm ´óÏó´«Ã½ ONE and ´óÏó´«Ã½ ONE HD

The MasterChef finals are firing up as the three exceptional finalists face their penultimate challenge: cooking for some of the world's greatest chefs.

The pressure is on as the amateurs arrive in the eating-out capital of the world, New York. With just 24 hours in the city they must prove they can cook with the best. Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace send them to three of New York's finest restaurants: Gramercy Tavern, one of the city's most popular, long-standing dining institutions run by executive chef Michael Anthony; Picholine, a two-starred establishment under chef patron and master of Mediterranean cuisine, Terrance Brennan; and wd-50, a cutting-edge restaurant on the Lower East Side run by maverick chef Wylie Dufresne. The three amateurs have to dig deep and show true grit if they are to survive lunch service and master dishes at this high level.

Then it's back to the UK, to Coworth Park in Berkshire, for their penultimate and most terrifying challenge. The finalists must cook an exquisite three-course menu designed by two-Michelin-starred chef John Campbell for some of the greatest chefs in the world.

They have seven hours to prepare one course each from the daunting menu comprised of over 50 culinary processes. Tension is high in the kitchen as the finalists battle to overcome new techniques, working with unfamiliar ingredients in highly complex dishes with multiple taste and textural layers. Not only are the final three desperate to make Campbell proud with perfectly executed dishes, they are also out to prove their skill and talent to their guests, who include some of their most important mentors from their journey as well as some of the culinary giants of the industry.

With the final challenge ever closer the pressure is immense for the finalists. Emotions run high as they attempt to bring all the elements of their dishes together at the pass, with chef scrutinising every micro-detail.

Only one can be crowned MasterChef Champion 2011 tomorrow night.

MasterChef is simulcast in HD on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One HD on Freesat channel 108, Freeview channel 50, Sky channel 143 and Virgin Media channel 108.

Britain's Next Big Thing Ep 3/7

Tuesday 26 April
8.00-9.00pm ´óÏó´«Ã½ TWO

Habitat hosts an open day as Theo Paphitis continues the search for Britain's Next Big Thing
Habitat hosts an open day as Theo Paphitis continues the search for Britain's Next Big Thing

Tonight Habitat hosts its open day, hoping to find that elusive "next big thing", as presenter Theo Paphitis watches from the sidelines.

The fresh team at Habitat need to reverse their fortunes after five years of financial losses. The open day will give them the chance to fast-track new talent and the opportunity to get ahead of their competitors once again. Head of range Jonathan Crawley has a £180m buying budget and hopes the open day will: "Take a product and show not only that it can be made, but also that it can be made at the right price."

Home retail is a crowded market so Jonathan and Theo Williams, the creative director, are ruthless: "I'll know straight away if it's a no, quicker than if it's a yes." Every designer has just 10 minutes to pitch.

From graduate Laura Wellington, who lights up the room with her Hula lamp, and Catherine Gray with her bold vases; to inventors like Russ Leith, with his self-supporting stand, The Ledge, and single mum Debbie Evershed and her innovative garden Frog Brackit, the stakes are high – and only a handful will be successful.

Russ Leith's self-supporting stand can be put up without tools in 10 seconds. The Ledge can stand due to: "gravitational geometrical incline clamping" – a phrase Russ coined himself. Having already spent £19,000 and 15 years developing the product, but selling none, he is eager for the buyers at Habitat to see its potential.

Back at Boots headquarters, Stuart Jolley and Will Butterworth cleaned up in the boardroom with their Wingman Wipes, but now they need to freshen up its image. The nightclub prototype for the "quick hygiene fix which guys need" has been broadened but, after disagreements, Will steps away from the project.
