How the Show Works

Tumble is a new six week elimination contest for 大象传媒1 in which 10 brave celebrities will learn and perform gymnastic and aerial disciplines, for the chance to win the coveted title of Tumble Champion 2014.

Each celebrity has been paired with a professional performer of the opposite sex. Each pairing has its own British Gymnastics approved coach (minimum level 3).

Celebrities will be asked to take part in disciplines and to perform to music and themes as chosen by production.

At the end of Show 6, the winner will be announced.

Show One

In Show 1 (Saturday 9th August 2014) all 10 celebrities will perform 1 of 2 possible disciplines 鈥 Acrobatic Floor or Aerial Hoop. They will receive comments and scores from the judges (see judging section below.) The scores from each judge will be added to create the overall score for each celebrity. No-one is eliminated at the end of this show.

Show Two

In Show 2, (Saturday 16th August ) all 10 celebrities will perform whichever discipline they did not perform in Show 1 and once again receive comments and scores from the judges as in show 1 above.

The scores received by each celebrity in show 1 and show 2 will be compared to establish their Personal Best- which will be the higher of the two scores. The Personal Best will then be used as their score for the end of show 2 leaderboard.

The two celebrities with the lowest scores on the leaderboard at the end of show 2 are the 鈥渂ottom two鈥. They must now face 'The Vault鈥 (see elimination section below). One celebrity will be eliminated after the vault performance.

Show Three

In Show 3, Saturday 23rd August, the remaining (9) celebrities will perform one of two possible disciplines 鈥 trampoline or rhythmic gymnastics. They will receive comments and scores from the judges. The scores will form the judges鈥 leaderboard.

The two celebrities with the lowest scores on the leaderboard at the end of Show 3 are the 鈥榖ottom two鈥. They must now face 鈥榯he Vault鈥. One celebrity will be eliminated after the vault performance.

Show Four

In Show 4, Saturday 30th August, the remaining (8) celebrities will perform whichever discipline they did not perform in Show 3 and once again receive comments and scores from the judges.

Again these scores form the judges鈥 leaderboard which will determine which celebrities are the 鈥榖ottom two鈥. These two will face 鈥榯he Vault鈥. One celebrity will be eliminated after the vault performance.

Show Five

In Show 5, Saturday 6th September, the remaining (7) celebrities will perform two disciplines each. The first discipline is a floor performance. Celebrities will receive comments and scores from the judges. After this, viewer voting opens. The celebrities will then perform their second discipline, either parallel bars (male celebrities) or beam (female celebrities). The scores for these disciplines will be revealed and added to the Show 5 judges鈥 scoreboard. Scores will then be converted to points. Viewer voting will close as announced in the programme and viewer votes will then also be converted to points. Both sets of points are then combined (50/50) to form the end of show scoreboard. This will determine which celebrities are the 鈥榖ottom two鈥. These two will face 鈥榯he Vault鈥. One celebrity will then be eliminated after the vault performance

Show Six

In Show 6, Saturday 13th September (The Final), the remaining (6) celebrities will perform two disciplines each. The first discipline is a combined floor and aerial trapeze performance. Celebrities will receive comments and scores from the judges. After this, viewer voting opens. The judges鈥 scoring is for guidance only, as it is viewer votes alone which will decide who is crowned Tumble Champion 2014. The celebrities will then perform their second discipline, the vault. This will not be scored. Viewer voting will close as announced in the programme and the winner will be revealed at the end of the show.

Judging

There are four members of the judging panel, chosen for their expertise in their related gymnastic and aerial fields; Nadia Comaneci (Head Judge), Craig Heap, Louis Smith, Sebastien Stella.

After each celebrity has completed their discipline, the judges will give their expert opinions. Celebrities will be judged on both their technique in that particular discipline and their performance.

Celebrities will then receive a score out of 10 from each judge, giving them an overall score out of 40. The scores increase in 0.5 points.

There is no audience voting until Show 5 (6th September).

Voting

The public can vote for their favourite act in the semi-final (6th September) and final (13th September).

Full details for when and how to vote can be found on Tumble's .

The Tumble scoring system in Show 5 combines judges and viewers votes. No celebrity is guaranteed to be safe on judges' scores alone however, and the viewers' votes can always influence the outcome. This means in this week any celebrity can face or be saved from the 鈥榁ault鈥 by the public vote. In the event of a tie, the viewers' votes will take precedence over the judges' scoring.

The judges' scores will be added together and the celebrities will be ranked according to the scores received. The celebrity ranked the highest will be awarded a number of points equal to the number of celebrities competing. So, for example, if six celebrities are competing, the points awarded to the highest ranked celebrity (based on the judges鈥 total score) will be 6. The celebrity with the second highest score from the judges will receive 5 points and so on in the same downward sequential order.

In the event of a tie, where two or more celebrities obtain the same number of points, the celebrity below those in the tie will be awarded one point below the points awarded to each of the tied celebrities. So, for example, if two celebrities obtain the same rank and obtain 6 points each, the celebrity immediately below them will be awarded 5 points. The scoring of all other celebrities underneath will follow in the same descending order.

After phone and online voting has closed, the viewers' votes will be collated and independently verified. The celebrities will be ranked based on the total number of viewers' votes received. As with the judges鈥 scores, the celebrity with the highest number of viewers' votes will be awarded a number of points equal to the number of celebrities competing. So, for example, if six celebrities are competing, the points awarded to the highest ranked celebrity (based on the viewers' total score) will be 6, the celebrity with the second highest score from the viewers will receive 5 points and so on in the same downward sequential order.

In the event of a tie, where two or more celebrities obtain the same number of points, the celebrity below those in the tie will be awarded one point below the points awarded to each of the celebrities in the tie. So, for example, if two celebrities obtain the same rank and obtain 6 points each, the celebrity immediately below them will be awarded 5 points. The scoring of all other celebrities underneath will follow in the same descending order.

Once the judges' scores and viewers鈥 votes have been combined, if there is a tie between any celebrities, then the celebrity in the tie with the highest number of viewer votes will be deemed to be ahead on the leaderboard.

In the unlikely event that there is a tie in those celebrities鈥 viewer votes as well, head judge Nadia Comaneci will decide who faces the 鈥榁ault鈥.

In Show 6 the placings will be decided by the viewer vote alone and any tie would be announced (ie joint 1st place).

The format may be altered by Production throughout the series if required.

Ties

In show two the event of a tie in personal best score between two or more celebrities at the bottom of the show 2 leaderboard, we will use the total combined score from show 1 and 2 for each of the tied contestants. The two celebrities with the lowest combined score will be in the 鈥淏ottom Two鈥

In the unlikely event that there is still a tie when the combined scores are added up then we will use the total score across both disciplines awarded by Nadia Comaneci for the tied celebrities and the two celebrities at that stage with the lowest combined score will face 'The Vault'.

If there is still a tie then Head Judge Nadia Comaneci will decide which of the tied celebrities at the bottom of the table will face 'The Vault'.

In Shows 3 and 4, in the event of a tie between two or more celebrities at the bottom of the leaderboard, we use the individual scores awarded by Nadia Comaneci for the tied celebrities to determine who is in the 鈥榖ottom two鈥. The two celebrities with the lowest score from Nadia will face 鈥榯he Vault鈥.

In Show 5 in the event of a tie between two or more celebrities at the bottom of the overall leaderboard once judges scores and viewers votes are combined, we use the individual scores awarded by Nadia Comaneci to determine who is in the bottom two.

If there is still a tie, Head Judge Nadia Comaneci will decide who faces 鈥榯he Vault鈥 as above.

Elimination

As explained above, there will be no elimination at the end of Show 1. In Show 2 one celebrity will be eliminated at the end of the show.

The two celebrities who find themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard must take on the 鈥榁ault鈥 for the chance to stay in the contest.

One further celebrity will be eliminated at the end of Show 3, one at the end of Show 4 and one at the end of Show 5.

The celebrities who are not in the 鈥淏ottom Two鈥 at the end of each show are safe and will proceed to the following week.

Head Judge Nadia Comaneci will use her expertise to decide which celebrity has performed the best in the Vault and will therefore be through to the following week. The remaining celebrity therefore leaves Tumble.

It is the Head Judge鈥檚 decision alone that decides the celebrities鈥 fate. She will only take into account the performance on the vault and not any performances from earlier in the show or the contest.

The Tumble medics and physio are on hand throughout the show to ensure all performers are fit to compete.

The format may be altered by Production throughout the series.
