Meet the Asian Network Residency DJs

The Asian Network Residency is the strand that showcases the best in new and emerging DJ talent with a focus on dance music.

From November 2020, homegrown and international acts alike will share with listeners personally-curated mixes and special features, while using the opportunity to present their talent to a global audience.

Listen to the shows every Sunday night into Monday morning (11pm-1am).

DJ Nojan

Persian born Scottish DJ, Nojan is a multi-genre DJ and producer with a unique style that sets him apart from the rest. Known for diverse and high energy sets, he specialises in Middle Eastern and International sounds.

Starting his career in Scotland in 2008, he has gone to play at some of the biggest events and clubs in the UK and around the world. He’s also opened shows for Sean Paul, Nas, Wiley and Mumzy Stranger to name a few.

DJ Nojan says: 'I am very excited to join the 大象传媒 Asian Network Residency, mixing the freshest Middle Eastern music with the best of Desi Asian, RnB and Hip Hop sounds from around the Globe.'

DJ Almass Badat

London-born DJ Almass Badat grew up in Lusaka, Zambia. With Indian roots, her diverse background continues to influence her career as a DJ and content creator. Committed to communicating culture through art, Almass is a visible member of the Queer Muslim community and makes up one third of the What Is This Behaviour? podcast.

Almass says: “I love picking up songs, sounds and beats from my travels and conversations around the world. They transport me to times, places, culture and real people, and influence how and what I broadcast.

"Sharing my music on the 大象传媒 Asian Network Residency means that from future beats to Bhangra, Indo-electro, Grime, Hip Hop, Afrobeats and so much more, I can share a taste of my global discoveries through sound in all its glory.”

Aneesha Kotwani

Aneesha Kotwani owes her musical career to the fact that she moved to the UK from India in 2009 and discovered a whole new world of club culture and nightlife.

Moving back to India in 2013 wasn't a choice, but little did she realise that she would be at the forefront of building an independent and electronic music community in India through her company, Wavlngth.

Aneesha Kotwani says: "I have been dabbling with radio since 2017 and I just kept at it. I felt this was my creative outlet to share music with the world since I don't DJ or produce my own music. That sheer persistence has now got me to the 大象传媒 Asian Network and I am so grateful for the opportunity.

"I hope this can be the beginning of many amazing things to come as I would truly like to contribute and put talent from my country on the global map, as it is such a fulfilling experience. Looking forward to sharing it all over the next year!"

DJ Kye

North London’s DJ Kye has been active in music and media over the past seven years. Starting out as a DJ from a very young age, he soon began opening for UK artists and having regular DJ mixes on the radio. Later, touring with artists Nish and Mumzy, DJ Kye has also supported Nadia Ali on the 大象传媒 Asian Network and aims to inspire and educate through his creativity.

DJ Kye says: “I’m really happy to be joining 大象传媒 Asian Network, I listened to the station as a kid so I'm excited to now be a part of the team. I'll be playing different types of Rap, Hip Hop and Grime as well as different sounds and languages that you need to hear. Expect representation from every country in South Asia!”
