What is it like to ride on the real Hogwarts Express?
It’s rare for railway viaducts to elicit excitement, but one such structure on the west coast of Scotland is particularly magical.
A train journey to 'Hogwarts'
Ellie and Adam take a look at the Glenfinnan viaduct.
Glenfinnan Viaduct overlooking Loch Shiel is recognisable to muggles around the world from the Harry Potter films, in which it’s crossed by the Hogwarts Express carrying the young witches and wizards to school.
The Victorian viaduct has become so popular with fans of the films that the area has had to be adapted to ensure the safety of locals and tourists alike.
And while some of those visitors are content to view the bridge from below, it is possible to enjoy a steam-powered adventure across the viaduct just as Harry, Ron and Hermione did.
On Secret Britain Ellie Harrison and Adam Henson took their seats on the Jacobite steam train, which doubled for the Hogwarts Express in the films, and which runs along the spectacular route of the West Highland line during summer months.
And while both presenters had admired the stunning setting of the viaduct before boarding, they found the views to be had from on board the train equally spellbinding.
