Tom and Brenda look for an exit.
Ed has bought ten tonnes of swedes to supplement the cows' diet, as silage is running low at Grange Farm. Jazzer is derisive about their size. Ed tells him that no carrots were available and he will break them up by using the tractor bucket. Oliver is pleased at Ed's enterprise.
Brian is feeling his age. He confides to Oliver that he's not enthusiastic about going to the Pony Club ball. He's preoccupied about inheritance tax; it's time for a review of his finances for the sake of his children's future. Oliver is considering branching out into cheese-making, and plans to go to the Sima Show in Paris to study European cheeses.
After talking to Tony, Tom has come to the conclusion that buying a house is not an option; he suggests to Brenda that they look at renting. Brenda is pleased, it means that she can increase her student loan and make a contribution. Brenda tells Tom that they will have Willow Farm to themselves later, if he's interested in coming over. Unfortunately, their plans are spoilt again, as Mike comes home early from the pub and settles down to watch the television with them.
