How do you recognise a comedy Highlander when you see one? This one-off programme trawls the film and television archives to discover what areas of Highland life are ripe for comedy exploitation. Highland Hoots studies the stereotypes, looking at how the people and culture of the Highlands have been depicted in comedy over the years. Writers and actors let us in on how they create comedy highlanders, often involving whisky, bagpipes, haggis, ginger hair and a kilt.
