Drama about an American schoolteacher whose personality changes when he becomes addicted to drugs. Unaware of the possible deadly complications, Ed Avery, a family man and professional, becomes a willing guinea pig for tests of a miracle drug. However, he rapidly becomes addicted and his family is forced to suffer the devastating effects of his tragic metamorphosis into a paranoid egoist with manic ideas.
