Turn Your Radio On: Ray Stevens
Don Maclean looks at the work of Ray Stevens, the man behind the comedy song The Streak, but also responsible for the country version of Misty and for Everything is Beautiful.
Comic Don Maclean presents a light-hearted look at the work of Ray Stevens. His track The Streak brought him to the attention of the British record-buying public in the Seventies, but his real impact has been in the US.
Stevens has been awarded two Grammys - one for his hit Everything is Beautiful and another for his country take on the jazz classic, Misty. The programme examines why comedy songs make less of an impact today and also celebrates Stevens' skills as a producer, arranger, composer and performer.
Contributors include Stevens himself, Andy Williams, Jasper Carrott, Tony Blackburn, Roy Wood, Simon Warner.
