Tense thriller, based on actual events, which tells the story of a submarine accident off the eastern seaboard of the United States in October 1986, just days before the crucial peace summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. Following a routine avoidance manoeuvre which goes wrong and results in a collision between Soviet and American submarines, a crew battles to avert a nuclear catastrophe.
