Louise Fryer presents music inspired by ancient Greek myth, with works centring on the story of Phaedra. While she is sometimes portrayed as one of the least savoury of many of the mythical characters, she was made deeply sympathetic in Pizzetti's opera Fedra, which was the hit of the season at La Scala, Milan, in 1915 and was revived in 2007-08 by the Montpellier Festival.
