The Investigation — Killing with Kindness
Are we paranoid about child safety? Lesley Riddoch investigates children's wellbeing and Graham Stewart takes your calls.
Are we paranoid about child safety?
Lesley Riddoch asks whether if it's wise to keep children cooped up inside all day? The Scottish Children's Minister, Adam Ingram, wants Scotland to copy Norway where most kindergarten children play outside - whatever the weather.
There's evidence that outdoor play improves health, language development, and even problem solving and self-confidence amongst toddlers. But, although Mr Ingram has described Norway's outdoor learning as the gold-standard, he says there's no new money to improve early years provision in Scotland. So can anything reverse the trend towards cooped up children?
Graham Stewart takes your calls, texts and emails.
