With facts, figures and trivia as well as the classic hits, rarities, instrumentals and album tracks, the selection sweeps right across the most important decade for popular music. Including The Sixties Chronicles, digging into the archives for the events of this coming week during the 1960's. With the news stories, social happenings, the week's events in music, films, on tv and in show business as well as a look at what you might have bought with your pounds, shillings and pence. Including this week the end of the 17th Olympiad, ban the bomb demos in Trafalgar Square, how Graham Nash of the Hollies hit the ground, George Best's debut for Manchester United, the first edition of the Sun, the start of second class post and on tv The Virginian and Dee Time. On the SOTS pages of the Radio 2 website is an historic front cover of Radio Times from this week in the 1960's.

Music includes The Soul Brothers 6, Cilla Black, Brook Benton, Fleetwood Mac and two from The Rockin' Berries.
