Brian Matthew, the voice of sixties popular music, presents the programme for all fans of the decade. With facts, figures and trivia as well as the Sixties Chronicles.
Brian Matthew presents the programme for all fans of the music of the 1960s.
Including The Sixties Chronicles, digging into the archives for the events of this coming week during the 1960's. With the news stories, social happenings, the week's events in music, films, on tv and in show business as well as a look at what you might have bought with your pounds, shillings and pence. This week news of the first traffic wardens, how Malta was granted independence, Jimi Hendrix arrived in London with only the clothes he stood in, the QE2 was launched and the rumour spread that Paul McCartney was dead and a body double was being used. On tv we had Dixon on Dock Green. Music tracks included in the programme are from Keith, Gary Puckett, The King Brothers, Roy Orbison and Irma Thomas.
With facts, figures and trivia as well as the classic hits, rarities, instrumentals and album tracks, the selection sweeps right across the most important decade for popular music from beginning to end.
Sounds Of The Sixties began in 1983 and Brian has been at helm since 1990, bringing to the programme his distinctive voice and unmatchable experience of sixties shows.
