From Rocket Man to Ziggy Stardust, Johnnie brings you the sounds from a decade that went intergalactic. Colourful P-funk bassist Bootsy Collins chats about his career.
Johnnie Walker spins the hits and digs out the rarities from the decade of glitter, glam-rock and The Good Life.
This week on the show, Johnnie brings the funk as Bootsy Collins recalls his memories of the decade. Player with James Brown on some of his biggest hits in the late 60s, Bootsy Collins joined George Clinton's Parliament Funkadelic in 1972. Known for his slap-bass, humorous vocals and colourful style from his famous star-shaped glasses to his 'Space-bass' guitar, Bootsy is one of the most charismatic musicians of the decade. He continued the 'P-Funk' sound in the late 70s and went on to form 'Bootsy's Rubber Band', putting out three albums including two that went gold - 'Bootsy? Player of the Year' and 'Ahh... The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!'. As he releases 'Tha Funk Capital of the World' featuring guests including Bobby Womack, George Clinton and Samuel L Jackson, Bootsy looks back to see the musical legacy of those formative P-Funk years.
Also on the show, Jane Bozian recalls her musical memories of the decade in 'My 70s' and Johnnie spins three gems from classic 70s album 'Minute By Minute' by The Doobie Brothers, their eighth studio album that reached No 1 in the US charts in 1979.
