Syria's worsening internal political situation is our lead story, and we hear from the author of Chernobyl: Catastrophe and Consequences on the accident's 25th anniversary.
As the US State department orders its staff out of Syria we hear from Tom Porteous from Human Rights Watch. Communications into the country remain affected by blackouts. Tom tells us what he's hearing from colleagues in the region.
Doctor Jim Smith, the author of Chernobyl: Catastrophe and Consequences joins us in the first hour on the anniversary of the world's worst civilian nuclear accident to remind us just what happened that night in Ukraine. A systems test that went wrong in seconds spread radioactive material across thousands of square miles of Northern Europe.
We also hear in hour two from John Belitsky whose spur of the moment decision to do something amazing saw him and a friend hail a cab in New York and take it all the way to Los Angeles, and back.
