The Middle East continues to dominate the news. We hear from our reporter Jonathan Head in Cairo after Hamas and Fatah announce an agreement on the future of the Palestinian state. Later, the Israeli prime minister's spokesman Mark Regev joins us to give their reading of the situation.

Our correspondent Jim Muir talks us through the turmoil in Syria and explains how news is making it out of the sealed country.

In our second hour news breaks of deaths in rural America during severe storms and we hear from Greg Carbin at the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma.

Dr Karl's science phone-in takes up our third hour. Which gets hotter, black dogs or white dogs? Our man in Sydney may have an answer. A podcast of this hour is available at bbc.co.uk/podcasts/5live.
