Pakistanis & Bangladeshis underachieving?
Are reports about Bangladeshis underachieving doing more harm than good? And has India placed too much attention on it's successes? Plus what is 'end of life care'?
At 1- Are reports about Pakistanis and Bangladeshis underachieving doing more harm than good?
A study's being launched by The Joseph Rowntree Foundation which shows that that those communities are still struggling when it comes to education and employment. It also says that over half the UK's Bangladeshi and Pakistani population are now living in poverty.
Is this anything that we haven't heard before? Are reports like this simply reinforcing stereotypes? Are you a Pakistani or Bangladeshi who is fed up of hearing about how badly you're doing?
After 2- We'll be joined by environmental activist Srinivas Krishnaswamy, who is campaigning to raise awareness about those people in India who have no access to water or electricity. But when we think of India have we placed too much attention on its successes and not enough on the problems that still exist there?
And- Is 'end of life' care an issue that many asians think about? Would you know what services are available for an elderly family member or life limited child? Or do British Asians place far too much reliance on the extended family?
