Should a Sikh cultural centre serve meat and alcohol?
Should a Sikh cultural centre ever serve meat and alcohol? And should women make all the financial decisions in the home?
At 1- Should a Sikh cultural centre ever serve meat and alcohol?
There was a huge kick off at a Sikh centre in Dudley on saturday lunchtime after two hundred protestors forced their way into the building to protest at alcohol and meat being served. The rally was called by the Satkaar Campaign which has the catchline "keep the holy place holy". They, along with UK Sangat who were also involved, say the protest was peaceful.
However West Midlands Police say the protest turned violent, damage was caused to the community centre and they're telling people who took part in the protest to turn themselves in before they get a knock on the door.
What do you think about this? This centre was physically set apart from the Gurdwara and is regarded as a hall for all of the community. But the protestors say its still a holy place. Should anything that has "Sikh" in the name ever serve alcohol and meat?
