Today marks the forty-fourth anniversary of the end of the Arab Israeli six day war. Israelis military leaders launched an attack after perceiving it was being threatened by an Arab alliance. At the end of the conflict Israel was three times the size it was before. And events since the 1967 conflict have had a massive factor in International affairs.
Palestine, along with Kashmir, Iraq and Afghanistan is always mentioned when we talk about what drives radicalism in this country. But should we just forget what goes on in far away lands and let them get on with it?
Pro Palestinian groups accuse Israel of not wanting peace, illegal occupation of Palestinian lands, and trying to strangle the population living on the West Bank and Gaza through blockades and security measures. Israel say that Arab refusal to acknowledge its right to exist, the launching of rocket attacks and the fact its surrounded by largely hostile nations means it has to be robust in its defence.
