Children starting school without speaking English
Are you an irresponsible parent if your child can't speak English when they go to school? Plus it's our cricket hour with guests including comedian Paul Sinha.
At 1- Are you an irresponsible parent if your child can't speak English when they go to school??
A Conservative MP from Yorkshire has said that Asian parents need to take responsibility for teaching their children English before they start at primary school. Kris Hopkins says thousands of children in his constituency can't speak English and parents need to step up to the mark.
What do you think about this?
Are you a bad parent if you teach your children their mother tongue first? Mr Hopkins thinks so and he singles out Asian parents. He says the country needs highly skilled, educated, ambitious and an aspirational workforce. If you send your child to primary school speaking punjabi, gujarati or urdu he says you're threatening his vision.
Do you agree with this? Do you think all Asian parents do this? Is it a cheap stereotype? Or do you agree with him?
After 2- It's a cricket hour including the new updated version of the famous Tebbit test.
