The Dark Side Of The Moon: Pink Floyd in the 70s
Johnnie goes back to the 70s with one of the biggest bands in rock: Pink Floyd. He talks to David Gilmour and Nick Mason about being at the forefront of the prog rock explosion.
Johnnie Walker goes back to the 70s with one of the biggest bands in rock: Pink Floyd.
He meets two members of one of the most elusive, serious and ground-breaking bands in popular music as they open their vaults to release unheard demo versions, live tracks and alternative mixes of their most famous material. David Gilmour and Nick Mason talk about being at the forefront of the prog rock explosion in the 70s and what it's like revisiting these legendary tapes, 40 years on.
Johnnie finds out about the creation of one of the biggest albums of all time, The Dark Side Of The Moon, from the early experiments to the scathing live reviews. David and Nick remember the euphoria of success and the pressures and self-doubt of following it. They share the inside track on the growing tensions within the band and the build-up to their last album of the decade, which was performed behind a giant wall on the monster tour of The Wall.
As they talks artwork, memorabilia and standing the test of time, Johnnie weaves in some of his favourite moments from their 70s work and also hears from Roy Harper about the part he played in the Pink Floyd story.
