Johnnie's guest is the revered guitar player, Steve "The Colonel" Cropper. As guitarist in the iconic Stax Records house band, Booker T and the MGs, he's the axeman on classic hits from Otis Redding, Rufus and Sam & Dave with writing credits that include In The Midnight Hour, Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay and Knock On Wood.

Johnnie takes Steve back to the start of the 70s, when he left Stax to plough his own furrow. He talks about working with Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck and John Lennon and the short-lived reunion of Booker T & The MGs before the devastating murder of drummer Al Jackson. The 70s also saw the birth of the Blues Brothers with "The Colonel" backing Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi first for a sketch on Saturday Night Live and then in a major Hollywood film.

Also on the show singer-songwriter Janis Ian recalls the 70s, a decade of Grammy - winning success with the hit At Seventeen, which she also performed on the first ever episode of the hit US TV show, Saturday Night Live. She picks her favourite music of the decade and recalls her foray into disco with Giorgio Moroder and Fly Too High.
