Give a Child a Chance

Lesley Riddoch asks why we don't invest more in a child's early years, so as to give our children the best possible start in life.

1/1
Lesley Riddoch uncovers a wealth of evidence that shows a child's life chances are decided in the years 0 to 3, when their brain is developing the most. If politicians know this, she asks, why aren't they investing heavily in supporting parents and children at this time? Lesley finds that politicians all agree this would not only give our children the good start in life they deserve, but would even save money in the long term, as it's been proven taking action to improve family life at this stage can prevent costly health and social problems later on. So what would it take, she asks, for us to have a Scotland full of happy, healthy two year olds?
