In the feature Baby What A Big Surprise [they really were Number One albums] we hear Feudin' And Fightin' by Dorothy Shay (The Park Avenue Hillbilly) from her 1947 album Dorothy Shay Sings. We also hear And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going by Jennifer Hudson from the 2007 soundtrack album Dream Girls. The original Broadway cast album failed to reach the top ten when it was released in 1982.
In the regular feature The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, songs are featured from LPs by Sonny & Cher and Mary-Chapin Carpenter. It's Not The Same Old Song highlights Holiday by the Bee Gees and a different song with the same title by Madonna.
In A Matter Of Life And Death Paul celebrates the birth on this date in 1939 of Tina Turner. We also hear The Fugitive by Merle Haggard as a tribute to the recently deceased songwriter and chart star Liz Anderson. What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and What Kind Of Fool Am I? by Sammy Davis Jr. are this week's featured songs from the Grammy Hall Of Fame Singles list.
R&B Number Ones are from 1965 - Ain't That Peculiar by Marvin Gaye - and this week - Stay by Tyrese. We hear Country Number Ones from 1973 and now by Charlie Rich and Taylor Swift. This week's past and present Rock Number Ones are by U2 and Bush. On the singles side, We Found Love by Rihanna and Calvin Harris is still Number One.
