Radio Review of 2011
Jane Garvey and Mike Toolan look back at the very best bits, and some of the worst ones too, from the last 12 months on 大象传媒 and and commercial radio.
Radio 4's Jane Garvey and Mike Toolan from Key 103 in Manchester look back at the very best bits - and some of the worst ones too - from the last 12 months on 大象传媒 and commercial radio.
It's been a year of record audiences in which Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood reinvented himself as a Sony Award-winning DJ on Absolute Radio; Radio 1's Chris Moyles completed an record-breaking 52 hour broadcast; and the disgraced Sky Sports presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray found a home on TalkSport.
But it's been a turbulent year for local radio, with many long-established and much-loved regional stations replaced by the Heart, Capital and Smooth brands which have been rolled out across the country.
During this 2 hour programme, many of the biggest names in broadcasting tell us their highlights from the year gone by and the people that inspired them to get behind the microphone in the first place. Plus, station controllers and industry experts look ahead to the big issues in the year ahead - such as the impact of 5 live's relocation to Salford, the planned cuts to 大象传媒 local services, radio's future in the digital and mobile world, and why there are still so few women in the industry.
This is a TDC production for 大象传媒 Radio 5 live, written and produced by Ben Green.
