Adaptation of Charles Dickens's tale about a young man whose life is dogged by the machinations of his evil, money-grabbing uncle. At a harsh boys' school, Nicholas befriends a boy called Smike and the two run away to join a theatrical group. But Nicholas's troubles are only just beginning.
